This year is turning out to be an exciting one at the Ocean Sports Centre, located on Carbis Bay in St Ives.
Already this year things are getting off to a brilliant start, we managed to get an amazing grant from Sportivate to enable us to offer heavily subsidised courses to women in the 17-25 age range, encouraging them to participate in new sports they would otherwise be unlikely to try. The response so far has been amazing with all the spring courses fully booked!
Soon to begin are a range of SUP fitness classes, including SUP Circuits and SUP & Run, the perfect way to get ready for the summer! We also have weekly training sessions run by SUP racer Ollie Shilston, these run every Saturday 0800 – 0900, so if you are ever the cornwall area, pop by and join in.
Our social paddles are held every Thursday evening and we are training a Kids SUP squad, which runs every Monday.
Events
This year the diary is filled with lots of exciting SUP events.

In May we have The Euro Tour, the only international SUP event in the UK, coming to town, which is certain to draw big names from across the SUP world.
It’s going to an awesome weekend, with the main race happening on the Saturday, the Euro Tour is limited to 14” boards, so we have teamed up with UK SUP clubs to include this race as a selection race for the national series, meaning that 12’6’ will race in the main race and will gain points to go towards their national series result.
On the Sunday there will be a series of fun and junior races, paddle clinics and no doubt some fun on our giant SUP!

Later on in the year we will be running the epic Celtic Crossing, which is the ultimate SUP endurance race. A 50km from the Isles of Scilly and Sennen, a gruelling challenge to push even the most competent SUPer.
Between the Isles of Scilly, an archipelago situated 50km south west off Lands End lies some of the most dangerous and busiest stretches of ocean in the world. The treacherous currents and sudden changes in weather that occur across this stretch of water, coupled with the fact they will be crossing one of Europe’s crammed shipping lanes will make this one of the most daring open ocean races in the world and the only race between land masses in Europe.
