Kayaking in Carbis Bay
Kayaking on Carbis Bay an Adventure not to be missed.
Our Hire Centre works on a “Splash and Dash” policy, pre book your time slot and off you go. Our trained staff will give you a safety briefing, show you how to paddle, advise you on where best to go depending on the wind and weather as well as insure you have a correctly fitting buoyancy aid. All hire is for one hour and must remain within Carbis Bay beach. If you would like more time out on the water and to take a trip over to St’Ives Harbour or even round the ‘island’ looking toward Porthmeor then our guided tour options are for you, either in our fleet of sit-on kayaks, Hawaiian Canoe’s or even SUP’s.
Important Note:
Please be aware that our kayaks are rated for those up to 18 stone (120kg) and a height of 6’6 (197cm) for your safety and that, on occasion, age restrictions can apply due to prevailing sea states. All hire under 12yrs must be supervised by an adult. We can accommodate those who require a higher rating by using our Hawaiian Canoe as a guided tour only.
Kayak Hire
Kayaking is a great way to get out on the water. We use single and double ‘sit-on’ plastic kayaks which are inherently very stable – the placid waters are ideal for novices. All paddlers must remain within the headland of Carbis bay – if you would like to travel further around the bay toward St’Ives please selected our guided tour option.

Kayak Explorer Tour
Our sit-on kayaks are the perfect craft to get up close and personal with the magical coastline of St Ives Bay. Your tour guide will be able to take you over toward the bustling harbour of St. Ives taking in Bamaluz and Porthgwidden beach.
On the tour, you might see some of the local common seals who are globally rare frequenting Porthminster point or even see a sun fish breach! If you are really lucky you might get a special glimpsing of one of our family of indigenous bottle nose dolphins who live in the bay as they hunt and play.
The Kayak Coastal Explorer lasts for approximately 2hrs and will give you a unique view of the St Ives Coastline… don’t forget your GoPro!
